Cross-market analysis across Vestiaire, The RealReal, Vinted, and Xiaohongshu shows resale flipping from secondary to primary purchase intent for buyers under 30. The assumption baked into most luxury brand tracking, that resale is a separate market, is inverting for the next generation. If your brand health metrics still treat primary and secondary interest as distinct, you are measuring a buyer who does not exist in this cohort. Category definition itself needs rebuilding.
